Jagiellonians at the Shore - July 23, 2011
[K]lams and Kielbasy Feast

Here is this year's itinerary. Don't be intimidated. Many people just do the beach and George's deck. Some just do George's deck. You can do as much or as little as you wish.

The party will take place from 10:00 AM until midnight. In the morning, arrive at George and Dolores Szymanski's, get changed into your swimming gear, and hit the beach. Lunch can follow at the outdoor Palm Grill at the Sea Shell, or take a picnic to the beach. Swim or relax on the beach in the afternoon (we usually congregate at the 7th Street beach), then go back to George's at 5:30 PM for a "[K]lams and Kielbasy" feast. (George has an outdoor shower stall so you can clean up after the beach.) After dinner, you can enjoy a sunset cruise on the bay, or take in the musical "Art," starring Judd Hirsch (!), at the Surflight Theater ( In any event, finish the evening on George's deck. Have kids? You can walk from George's to the Fantasy Island amusement park (a sizable group invariably goes).

Feel free to take in only part of the itinerary, but due to traffic concerns at the shore, George advises to arrive either before noon or after 4:00 PM. Children are welcome. (Kids love "Aunt Dolores.")

DIRECTIONS: George's home on Long Beach Island is located at 308 West Fifth Street, Beach Haven, New Jersey. Take Route 72 East onto the island. When you reach Long Beach Island Blvd., turn right. Go approx. 7 miles south, until you reach Fifth Street. Make a right, go about one block, and George's house is on the left. Look for the house proudly flying the Polish and Italian flags along with the American, and you've found it! If you need additional instructions or information once you get on the island call George's home: 609-492-5665 or George's cell: 609-314-3162

RSVP: Thanks to George and his wife Dolores for making this annual event possible. If you have any questions or wish to RSVP, call George at (856) 232-9828, and also let him know what hors d'İĞuvre, dish or dessert you can bring. If you intend to go, it is important that you call or email the Szymanski's ( no later than 5 days before the event, which is by July 18, so they can plan accordingly.
